Reedsy has fulfilled everything I’ve looked for as a freelance book editor, and more. From offering a direct line to authors in need of my services, allowing them to search by specific genres, I find the majority of the work I get there is far more attuned to my own interests and areas of specialism than any other author-editor matchmaking service I explored. What’s more, the author is placed at the heart of the experience – with a variety of courses and blog posts available which I use in my own work, to help authors navigate their way through to getting published.
Not only that, Reedsy offers protection on both the freelancer and editor side, allowing any disputes that can arise in a subjective process to be mediated fairly and objectively. I know this can be a worry for a lot of freelancers in my profession, and having Reedsy on-side is truly invaluable.
Best of all, Reedsy allows authors to access expertise at every stage of the publishing process without making them feel beholden to pursue an overpriced ‘one size fits all’ approach – whether they are a querying author looking for feedback on their submission material, or an aspiring self-published writer in need of copyediting and proofreading, Reedsy’s site makes very clear what they need, and how much it is likely to cost. As an editor, being able to steer authors in the right direction is made so much easier by Reedsy’s accessible, user-friendly service.
In short, I can’t recommend Reedsy highly enough.
